01 / Who and what this covers
This notice concerns the public MyRide website and communications you choose to send to us. It is framed around South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). The website provides information relating to Krugersdorp, Roodepoort and Randfontein and contact links that open your email application; it does not submit an enquiry or register you for updates.
For privacy questions or to exercise a right, contact info@myridesa.co.za. This page does not identify the operator's registered legal identity or a named Information Officer.
02 / Information we may process
- Information you send: if you use an email link, your email app opens a draft. Only if you decide to send it might we receive your email address, name, message and any details you include. Calls may reveal your number and what you tell us.
- Technical information: hosting and security infrastructure may create access or security logs, such as IP address, request time, requested page, browser or device information and error information.
- Third-party resource requests: this website requests Google Fonts. Your browser may send technical request information to Google's servers; Google's own notices govern its handling of that information.
Do not send sensitive personal information unless necessary for your enquiry. This notice covers website and contact-related information only.
03 / Why we process information
Where applicable, we use information to respond to enquiries you send, manage correspondence, operate and troubleshoot the website, protect it from misuse, and comply with legal obligations. Under POPIA, processing must have an appropriate justification. Depending on the circumstances, this may include your consent where requested, steps connected to your request or a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, or our legitimate interests or those of a third party where permitted and balanced against your rights. We do not claim that every activity relies on consent.
If you send an email asking for information or updates, that message is a request we can consider; sending it is not a website registration. We will not treat an email link click alone as consent to marketing.
04 / Sharing and service providers
Information may be processed by website hosting, infrastructure, security, email and communications providers as needed to run the site or respond to you. Google receives technical requests when your browser loads Google Fonts. We may disclose information where legally required, to protect rights or safety where lawful, or with your instruction. We do not claim to sell visitor information. Providers' access should be limited to their role and governed by appropriate arrangements where required by POPIA.
05 / Security, retention and international transfers
We aim to use reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the information and risks involved, and to work with providers on appropriate safeguards. No website, email or network transmission is guaranteed secure. If a security compromise affects personal information, we will handle notification obligations in accordance with applicable law.
We keep information only while needed for the purpose collected, legitimate operational needs, or legal and record-keeping duties, then delete or de-identify it where appropriate. The period depends on the type of information, the enquiry and legal requirements; we do not state an unverified fixed period.
Providers or resources may process information outside South Africa. Where a cross-border transfer falls within our control, we will apply POPIA's applicable transfer requirements, such as an adequate level of protection, appropriate binding safeguards, consent where suitable, or another lawful basis under section 72. Google Fonts requests may be handled internationally under Google's own practices.
06 / Your rights and direct marketing choices
Subject to POPIA and applicable exceptions, you may ask whether we hold your personal information, request access, correction or deletion of inaccurate or unnecessary information, object to certain processing on reasonable grounds, withdraw consent where consent is the basis, and ask us not to use your information for direct marketing. Withdrawing consent does not necessarily affect processing already lawful before withdrawal or processing justified on another lawful ground.
You can tell us at info@myridesa.co.za not to contact you with updates. Electronic direct marketing must follow POPIA's consent and existing-customer rules where applicable. This website has no optional marketing sign-up form.
07 / Access requests and complaints
For a privacy request or a request for records under the Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000 (PAIA), email info@myridesa.co.za with the subject “Privacy or PAIA request” and enough information to identify the records and enable us to respond. We may need to verify your identity and apply lawful access restrictions. This page does not provide a PAIA manual link or name an Information Officer.
If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator. You can find its current complaint channels at inforegulator.org.za. You may also seek any other remedy available under law.
